Purpose In Expenses

PIE donates its own margin — to your favorite cause — when you use the services you’d buy anyway.

PIE routes a portion of its margin on the services you already need — Microsoft 365, security, voice, hardware — straight to the nonprofit you choose. No extra cost. No donation on your side.

How PIE works for you

Three things happen every time you pay a service invoice.

Save money on services

PIE aggregates buying power across its partner network so you pay less than you would going direct — on Microsoft 365, security, voice, internet, and hardware.

e.g. A 25-seat Microsoft 365 Business Premium subscription through PIE typically runs 8–12% below retail list.

Generate donations automatically

Every invoice you pay creates a donation — from PIE's margin, not yours. You pick the nonprofit once; the rest is automatic.

Illustrative: a mid-size services business could direct several thousand dollars a year to its chosen nonprofit — funded by PIE's margin, never an extra charge.

Help your community

Your nonprofit gets unrestricted funds on a predictable cadence — no grant cycles, no gala tickets. PIE tells the story publicly (with your permission) so your team gets credit.

Illustrative: a small firm's everyday Microsoft and security spend could channel a few thousand dollars a year to a local cause — at no added cost.

No extra cost to you. PIE donates from its own margin — not yours.

Frequently asked questions

How does Purpose in Expenses work?

When your company uses PIE as a service provider — for software, hardware procurement, and more — PIE donates 50% of its own margin to the nonprofit you choose from our approved list.

You pay the same market rate. PIE keeps half its margin to cover operations and donates the other half on your behalf. Every purchase you make through PIE automatically generates impact.

Is there any extra cost to my company?

No. You pay the same market rate you'd pay anywhere else. PIE splits its own margin — nothing comes out of your pocket.

That's the model: PIE earns on the services it provides, and half of that goes straight to charity. Your company gets the services it needs and generates charitable impact at zero additional cost.

Can our nonprofit receive donations without buying PIE services?

Yes — as a Non-Profit Partner you can join PIE's referral network and receive donations attributed to the for-profit companies that choose your organization as their beneficiary.

You don't need to purchase any services. PIE simply routes a portion of the margin it earns from its for-profit Members to you based on their selections.

Who chooses which nonprofit receives the donation?

Your company does. When you join as a Member, you select one nonprofit from PIE's curated list of approved 501(c)(3) organizations.

Charities count on the donations PIE earmarks for them, so your selection commits for a year at a time. If something material changes (board decision, charity issue), you can request an early change from your portal with a quick reason and PIE staff will review.

Are the donations tax-deductible for our company?

No — PIE is the donor of record, not your company. PIE donates its own margin; your company simply directs where that donation goes.

The nonprofit receives the donation from PIE. If your company wants a deduction, a separate direct contribution to the charity would qualify — but the PIE model is a zero-cost way to generate impact without a deduction.

What services does PIE provide?

PIE provides managed software procurement (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, cybersecurity, and dozens of other SaaS platforms) and hardware procurement (laptops, monitors, peripherals) through its distributor relationships.

Staff manage subscriptions, renewals, and purchasing on your behalf so your team doesn't have to. Every dollar of margin PIE earns generates impact.

How quickly can we get set up?

Most Members are fully onboarded in under a week. After you sign up, your dedicated onboarding flow walks you through:

  1. Selecting your nonprofit
  2. Adding your current services so PIE can mirror and manage them
  3. Connecting billing

PIE is fully self-service — every step is guided in the portal with no support calls required.

Who do I contact if I have a question?

PIE is built to be fully self-service — every question is answered in context inside your portal, so you should never need to reach out.

If something isn't clear, the answer is in your account dashboard or in the in-app help panels. We keep improving those so your team is never stuck. If you find a gap, let us know through the portal and we'll fix it for everyone.
