Terms of Service
Purpose In Expenses, LLC · Version 2026-10-20 · Effective October 20, 2026
These terms are between Purpose In Expenses ("PIE") and the business, organization or person that accepts them ("you"). They cover the PIE Partner Portal and what you buy through PIE. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
Accepting these terms
You accept these terms by checking the box when you create your portal, or by selecting I agree when the portal asks you to review a new version. The person who accepts confirms they may accept for their organization. PIE records which version you accepted, when, and from which browser. Every earlier version stays readable in the version history at the end of this page.
The service
PIE resells software subscriptions, hardware and services from vendors and distributors such as TD SYNNEX and Microsoft, and runs this portal for ordering, tracking and giving. PIE does not make the products it resells.
How PIE's gift works
- PIE gives its own money to the nonprofit you choose. The gift is never a charge to you, and your purchase is not a donation by you.
- The gift is a share of PIE's margin: the difference between what you pay and what the product costs PIE. It is not a share of the price you pay.
- By default PIE gives 50% of its margin. The share can differ by agreement. If you negotiate a lower price, PIE's margin is smaller, and the gift is smaller with it.
- A gift can be small, and on some purchases it can be zero, for example when PIE's margin on an item is very small.
- PIE sends your gifts to your nonprofit once a year, on your account's yearly cycle. A business whose giving reaches the yearly amount shown in its portal may ask PIE for quarterly payments.
- PIE does not promise any amount. Estimates in the portal are projections, not promises.
Choosing your nonprofit
You choose the nonprofit that receives PIE's gift, on the Charity page of your portal. You can change it once every 365 days.
If you joined PIE through a nonprofit's invitation or its PIE page, that nonprofit stays your chosen nonprofit for your first two years (730 days), so it can plan on PIE's gifts. After that, the once a year change applies. Days follow Pacific time.
Referring other businesses
When a business you refer signs up and buys through PIE, PIE gives an extra share of its own margin on that business's purchases to your nonprofit. It never comes from the business you referred. Only purchases from the day the referral is recorded count. The share rate, and what your referrals have funded, are on your Referrals page. PIE sets the share aside and sends it with your nonprofit's yearly gift.
Impact Partner program
An Impact Partner is a person who refers businesses to PIE.
- Your commission rate is set for your account. Your rate and the commission you have earned are on your Referrals page.
- Commission counts only once a referral is active, and never on a voided or reversed purchase.
- You choose, in Settings, whether to take your commission as cash or to have PIE give it to a nonprofit you pick.
- If you take cash, PIE needs your W-9 before your first payment. You add it in Settings, Tax & documents. PIE pays cash commission only while a current W-9 is on file, and reports it to the IRS on Form 1099-NEC when the law requires it. Your Settings show what PIE has paid you this year.
- Whenever you share PIE, say clearly that you may earn a commission, and make only claims about PIE that your share kit makes.
Nonprofit terms
These apply if your organization receives PIE's gifts or refers businesses to PIE as a Non-Profit Member or Non-Profit Partner.
- You let PIE show your organization's name, logo and approved page content on your PIE page, in the share kits PIE makes for you and your supporters, and on PIE's sites, to describe PIE's giving to you.
- You write your page's About and mission and choose its logo and photos, and you confirm you have the right to share them. PIE reviews every change before it goes public; until then, the last approved version stays live.
- PIE's gifts are PIE's own money. PIE does not promise any amount, or any number of supporters.
- PIE sends gifts once a year for each business that supports you, on that business's yearly cycle, or quarterly for a business PIE has moved to quarterly payments.
- Before sending a gift, PIE checks your organization's IRS status and screens it against the US sanctions list. A gift to an organization that does not pass waits until it does.
Hardware orders
- Before you place an order, checkout shows each item's price, and its stock when TD SYNNEX confirms it. Shipping is a live quote from TD SYNNEX when one is available; otherwise checkout says it is calculated at fulfillment.
- Placing an order is a request to buy. PIE accepts it when PIE places the order with TD SYNNEX, and your order page shows where it stands. PIE may hold an order for review, or cancel it when an item cannot be supplied.
- Orders ship from TD SYNNEX. Tracking appears on your order page once the order ships.
- Returns follow TD SYNNEX's return policy for the product. You can start a return from your order page once the order has shipped; PIE files it with TD SYNNEX and the page shows its progress.
- Products come with their manufacturer's warranty, which passes through to you.
Price Promise
The Price Promise page sets out how a Price Promise claim works. It is part of these terms for any claim you make.
Community recognition
To build awareness of the impact PIE's partners create, PIE may display your business name and logo on PIE's websites and materials, including nonprofit pages, supporter walls, and PIE Certified listings. PIE will not publish dollar amounts attributed to your business unless you have approved a published case study. If you would prefer not to be displayed, contact us at hello@purposeinexpenses.com and we will discuss your options.
Your account
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at hello@purposeinexpenses.com if you suspect unauthorized access.
Acceptable use
You may use the portal only for lawful business purposes. You may not attempt to access data that does not belong to your account, reverse-engineer the portal, or use it in any way that could harm PIE or other partners.
Intellectual property
The PIE portal and its content are owned by Purpose In Expenses. You retain ownership of data you upload. You grant PIE a limited license to use that data, and your business name and logo, to deliver the service and as described in Community recognition.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, PIE is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the portal. Our total liability for any claim is limited to fees paid by you in the prior 12 months.
Changes to these terms
PIE gives notice of a material change before it applies to you, and asks you to review and accept the new version in the portal. A change applies going forward only, never to orders placed or gifts set aside before it. PIE records each version you accept, and every version stays in the history below.
